Thanks

Yes, i have been treating Bell's Palsy for years and results are honestly mixed. We go over needling of the facial nerve in the Advanced course with the goal of reducing neurogenic inflammation. This is the key factor peripherally for PT treatment; The physicians are trying to do the same with the steroids they prescribe as well as the anti-viral meds. The earlier the patient is seen at onset by all professionals, the better the end result. Bells becomes a compressional issue of the facial nerve as it exits the styloidmastoid foramen and this is where we focus the needling. There has not been a study of the results of DN with BP that I am aware of.

I have only taking the introduction course and have not been introduced to the styloidmastoid foramen needling technique. Is there any suggestion on additional points to needle? Supraorbital, infraorbital, and mental locations?

Thanks.

Hey Danny,

Yes, you will be around some of the muscles of facial expression with the homeostatic but they are more trigeminal. I would look at palpating some of the muscles she is having issues with and needling symptomatic points. The advanced course takes it to the next level for facial nerve. Let me know when you're going.
